Summer Days almost Over

So recently I have been so bad at blogging. Mainly because lightning hit a power box near our house and my laptop computer was not on a surge protector and my laptop is now a goner. Honestly I hate blogging on James’s computer because it isn’t as easy to use as mine. I am one of those girls that like a super easy computer without anything fancy on it and I like a cell phone that is also easy to use. It stinks because recently I finally got used to texting and as soon as I got comfortable with the phone I lost it. I know I have lost a lot of things in my life but I have NEVER lost a phone for longer than a couple of hours. I was so disappointed in myself over that one. So here are some pictures from some of our last days of summer before homeschool starts up. We went to the zoo this last Friday and the kids had so much fun because one of my friends from childhood, Kelly and her 6 kids came along with my friend, Christina and her little boy Jordan. My kids loved having a bunch of kids to play with. And then yesterday (Tuesday) we ventured out to the water park pool. The kids had such a good time splashing around and sliding down the water slides. My kids have such a wonderful, amazing, adventuring, fun, loving, adorable, Mom. I know I could go on forever but I’m in a hurry to finish this blog before my dinner is ready and we have our family movie night.
Let me attempt remembering everyone’s names — L to R — Nathan, Jonah, Asher, Abby, Wes, Ella, Ben, Jordan S. and Jordan D. Gracie was also in the picture but I accidently cut her out.

My boys had so much fun because since Kelly’s boys are so much bigger they would carry around my kids so they had such a great time.

When the heat got unbearable we were off to the splash park at the zoo.

Asher and his buddies, The Jordans
Then a few days later we were off to the water park and had a picnic planned. After being at the water park about 2 hours though, it thundered and the lazy life guards decided to kick everyone out of the pool area and off the pool deck. They wouldn’t even let us use the picnic tables to eat our lunch. So needless to say we had our lunch at home then all the boys crashed. Christina also babysat my boys so I could take baby Gracie to her first set of shots. It was very unfortunate that I left my camera at home so I took her picture after she got the shots.

Jordan S. and Asher going down the water slide. What fun!

Gracie slept the whole 2 hours. I wanted to put her in the water for her first swim day but she was catching up on some beauty sleep.

Then it was time for the dreaded 8 week shots. When I told Asher I was taking the baby to get her shots, he started to cry. It was really sad actually and very stressful for his little 3 year old mind.

As soon as we got home from the Doc’s office she was out for about 3 hours.
An afternoon of relaxation…

So this afternoon the boys and I met Bethany at her hotel since she was here on a business trip and swam in the hotel pool. I actually didn’t swim but layed in the hammock and watched the kids swim. They had such a good time with Auntie Abi and enjoyed some fun in the water. It was a long time since I could just lay back and enjoy the day and not have to worry about doing anything. Also it was in the shade so I enjoyed relaxing and watching the boys have an awesome time. Daddy and the princess were at home having some bonding time too. When I got home James said the princess slept the entire time we were gone.

Ok I have officially added Aunt Buppy on the hammock cause you wouldn’t want to miss her working hard on her business trip to Jacksonville.
I am a survivor of Children’s Camp

So every year since 2004 James and I have gone to Lake Yale and staffed children’s camp. The first year I went I was about 6 months pregnant with Jordan and we have gone each summer ever since. This year we thought we were going to have to miss it but the director for the black creek association called James and asked if he would go and be the worship leader. They also invited the whole family so we all went. Here is our day by day blog of all we did. I will say it was much more challenging with 3 little ones in toe but very worth it. Jordan and Asher had so much fun…
The boys were very excited to be on the way to camp and had their back packs on and ready to hit the road first thing Monday morning. Abi has gone with us for a few years too. She also didn’t think she was going to go until the last minute but we had so much fun bringing her. It was so amazing seeing all the kids going into youth group next year that started going when they were going into first grade. It’s so cool to see them come back year after year.
Day 1 was filled with many activities such as Jordan saying that this was the nicest hotel he’s ever stayed at…haha how funny is that? So we checked in and started our week at camp. The boys were running around and socializing with all the kids especially the girls. They definitely are not shy kids to say the least.

Day 2 was was also full of excitement because we had several decisions for salvation after the lesson on Tuesday night. Even though it was challenging at times toting my kids all around camp, this night was worth it. I actually wasn’t in the room when the kids made the decisions but a few ran up to James afterwards and it was neat to be there to hear the stories.

Day #3 had plenty of Desuyo drama. Asher had a run-in with a tree stump and Jordan closed his foot in the door and skinned his ankle pretty bad. You would have thought that Jordan broke his ankle for all the screaming he let out. I think he wanted to let the whole entire camp know that he was in major pain. He got cured miraculously when James told him if he couldn’t walk then he couldn’t swim. Asher’s injury was much worse but he’s cool, calm and collected and I barely noticed something was wrong with him. He was ready to jump in the pool and didn’t want anyone to stop him haha.

Thursday was the last official day and that’s usually when the camp-wide drama hits hard. Everyone gets tired and is so ready to leave the sandy beds, dirty showers and camp food behind and come home. We had fun giving out the rest of the candy, having an extra long swim time, stuffing Asher in a garbage can and saying goodbye to all the friends we had made. Jordan said that he had a girlfriend but it wasn’t the kissy kissy kind haha. I also made some good friends and enjoyed some time with some other moms. I will admit though when Friday morning came I was ready to load the van and head home!!!
Out of control fun

So obviously according to the pictures the fun never ends at the Desuyo home. When an elmo sprinkler, a water hose, a round disposable table cloth and a slide is involved the fun is un-imaginable. Check out the fun below!

Is water gun fighting really that hard?

Well I guess to toddlers water gun fighting can get very difficult. This is their first summer that I’ve even bought any. Jordan was begging for them at Target so I gave in and bought some. We all had a family outing to the pool again but we forgot to take them out of the diaper bag when we were there. They of course didn’t let me forget though. As soon as we got home (after our much needed naps) Jordan and Asher had a “sort of” water gun fight. Here was the scenario:
Jordan and Asher could not figure out how to shoot this gun at someone else
In the end Jordan figured it out but Asher never did. Awww poor Chunky!
Gorgeous weather and fun in the pool

So yesterday the boys played in the backyard all morning and then I decided to meet Cana and go to the indoor pool at Cecil Field Aquatics center. They had to much fun splasing and swimming all around. Let’s just say they were worn our and exausted from a fun-filled, energetic afternoon. When we first go to the pool though, Asher wanted to have nothing to do with it. He screamed like he was dying until we put him in the water then he was happy, happy. I really think my child is bi-polar haha j/k. Anyway we had so much fun.
- Jordan and Asher splashing Auntie Naina
- Jordan with Cana’s goggles on
- Asher riding his tricycle like a big boy
- Asher going in for the dunk
- Jordan shooting it from the top of the key
- Asher dunking it at the buzzer
