Is my husband OUT of his ever lovin’ mind?

Ok seriously, people that know me know that I don’t talk bad about my husband but I absolutely have to tell his story. Ok so I have been doing a few of the “man” jobs lately because James leaves our house around 7:30 and doesn’t get home until about 6:30 at night. I have been cooking every night I know, I know, that’s shocking. Then I have also been running errands for him like meeting people to buy his musical equipment that is selling etc. and I have been mowing the lawn. He always is so appreciative and I love having dinner ready and sitting down and talking about our days around the table etc.

So lately on the weekends he has been helping his dad put in laminate flooring at his house and they are on the last leg of finally finishing. All they needed was to put the transitional pieces in and they would be done. In order to do that they needed a nail gun to nail them down. So we have this awesome friend Charlie that always has those manly tools and is always willing to let people borrow them. So the other day Charlie called James to let him know he could borrow the nail gun. So when James asked if I would go out to Middleburg the next day to pick it up, I was thinking a nail gun…I really didn’t think twice about it and figured a nail gun is small and it wouldn’t be in problem picking it up.

Charlie wasn’t home at the time, so I opened his garage. When James told me to pick it up, he said that I would open the door and everything I needed would be in the middle of the garage. So when I opened the door there was the HUGE thing with a hose attached to it. I’m thinking SURELY NOT!!! But it was part of the nail gun. It was the air compressor that powers the nails to shoot out. Oh what fun!!! I some how drug that thing out to my car and pushed in into the back. Ok people this was no easy task because Charlie lives on this incline thing and I had to drag it up a hill and then figure out how to pick up a 2oo lb. air compressor. I would have just made James come out after work but I had traveled about 30 min . and didn’t want to waste any gas. So yes I was super mom/wife/man and pulled out the big guns and picked that big baby up and threw it in the car. Ok so maybe shoved it in but nevertheless it got into my vehicle.

On the way home I did call my wonderful husband and tell him my story. I’m sorry but I just couldn’t help myself. So in the end I just have to ask. Honey how in the world did you think I would pick that thing up? OOOOOH I have to tell his part too. Today when he was transferring it from my car to his he had to ask me to help him HAHAHA. I find that hilarious. He said “honey I am so proud of you for lifting that heavy thing up. You had 3 kids with no epidural. You can do anything now.” LOL!!!! P.S. I love you Jason James Shipcott Desuyo!!!

We are now flooring pros!!

Ok, ok so maybe I’m not a flooring pro and we’re getting there. It was actually really hard work flooring our house. I woke up this morning and since I was the hammering girl my shoulder is so sore. That’s why you don’t send a woman to do a guy’s job. Whew I had to take a long, hot shower just to get it to stop hurting. Anyway we finally got the living areas done and in a couple weeks, when our other flooring comes in we’re gonna floor the bedrooms too. Without Charlie we really wouldn’t have been able to do it because he actually knows what he’s doing so thanks Charlie. Also a big thanks to Cana and Joyce for keeping my kids today and yesterday. ( I really don’t think you even know how much it helped having those little hooligans out of our hair.) Check out the pics below, it looks awesome!! We also have video footage on youtube. Check it out yo!

Flooring update

We finally starting ripping up our carpets yesterday thanks to Joyce. She got Asher boy and took him away from the dangerous surroundings. Check the pictures out to see what fun and excitment we had. Jordan really helped and had fun lugging the rolled carpets to edge of the road and then got M&M’s as his little treat afterwards. It really was much easier than we had expected too. The only real challenging part was getting the tacked down boards pryed up. James got to do that while I cooked dinner or stirred it haha. Today we took a free class at Floor and Decor so let’s see how our floors will turn out. (haha with the help of Charlie, he really knows what he’s doing) Check back for more flooring updates!

On a quest for new flooring

The time is nearing for us to change our carpets and put in new flooring. Yes you heard me right we are about to embark on a “home improvement project”. I’d like to say that we’re handy around that house but that is simply not the case.  We can barely hang a picture on the wall without it falling on one of the kids. (actually that happened Friday when I was trying to hang a picture. Bethany was coming so I wanted my house to look decorated and Asher walked by and got klunked in the head poor kid haha) Anyway that’s a whole nother’ story for a whole nother’ day. So back to the flooring.

We have visited every home improvment store to find the best price to get the most for a buck. So far Sam’s has been the cheapest. The hardest part is going to be putting it in though. Neither one of us have experience whatsoever and quite frankly I don’t want it to turn out like Toots and Joyce. haha j/k I just had to say it! If anyone has an experience don’t hesitate to let me know. It is the click in lock kind so maybe it won’t be too hard. If anyone has the expertise please let your skills be put to good use.
