My baby boy is growing up

Recently the boys have been begging to go to the neighborhood playground and I have been avoiding taking them because it has been so stinkin’ hot outside lately. So finally one day a couple of weeks ago i told the boys that they could ride their powerwheels down to the park but we had to wait until evening hours because of the heat. Well everyday since then it has rained and poured and we haven’t had a chance to go and they have been sad every day. So finally yesterday it was dry enough to go. Sadly when we arrived though, the ground was so slushy and nasty that they only got on a few pieces of playground equipment and I bribed them to go if they could ride their bikes when we got home. Needless to say they jumped at that opportunity and were very excited to get home. Last summer we bought Asher a little bike because he was too small to ride the one that was originally meant for him. It makes me so sad because yesterday when he got on it he was too big for it and was ready to move up to the big boy spiderman one. I can’t believe how much he has grown this year. My baby is getting so big.

This is the bike we bought for him last year that is too small for him now. awww

Here he is on his big boy bike

He had his first official bike wreck but got lucky and fell into the neigbors very soft, newly sodded yard. He just laughed and said “mommy that was funny.”
Lice, lice and more lice

Man I don’t know how my kids have gotten lice but we discovered it last night. Actually James discovered it last night when he was getting the kids ready for bed. Recently Asher has been screaming at night and wouldn’t sleep in his own bed. He would cry and I would take him out and put him in bed with us. I thought he had gotten spooked again but apparently it was the lice biting his scalp. He would try to sleep in my bed too but would toss and turn. Since he can’t talk that well he couldn’t tell us his head was itching. After James shaved his and Jordan’s heads, we discovered that Asher had scabs all over his head and the lice had eaten his little scalp up. Oh yeah I checked James’s head and he had nits as well as myself. James shaved his own head then being the sweet husband he is combed the nits out of my hair for 3 hours. By the time we washed everything in the house it was 2:30 am and I was so tired. Luckily James had morning routine and I could sleep in a little bit. We still don’t know where the boys got it but I hope we permanently get rid of these annoying pests.
Pictures gone forever

The other day I took my external hard drive that had all my pictures on it into my office because I had to do some work with some of the data that was on the drive. I left it on the desk and had to do some chore checking with the girls. James went grocery shopping and when he returned he also needed to use the hard drive because Rachel and Joseph’s wedding was the next day and he needed to print out a bunch of stuff to get everything ready. When he went into the office the hard drive was on the floor and needless to say Asher most likely pushed it there. Wow tile is so unforgiving and I have lost all my pictures AND videos since the beginning of 2004. To me that is so sad because that’s so many of my memories. If anyone knows of anyone that recovers broken hard drives let me know. James found this one guy that does it but I think he charges about $500. Hmmmm…I don’t think I have that kind of money for laying around so that won’t work for me. Ok you’ve heard my sob story. That’s all the excitement I have for the moment.
A trip to the bathroom gone very, very wrong.

Ok so everyone knows that pregnant women and kids with a very small bladder have to go to the bathroom at least 50 times per day. So we had arrived at the mall and parked near sears since there were no other spots available. The only available bathroom was upstairs so Jordan and I made our journey up the escalator while Asher and James went to pacsun just around the corner. So afterwards we of course had to head to the down escalator. I was holding Jordan’s hand to get on and for some reason I let it go right before stepping on the escalator and he was not beside me but at the top yelling “mom you forgot me.” So of course the mother in me kicked in and followed my instincts which were not the smartest of instincts but the only choice I had. That of course was to run backwards up the escalator while it was going down. Wow not the smartest of moves for a pregnant, slow person that was on the cell phone. I told Caleb to wait and I’d get back to him after I saved Jordan. In the meantime I fell twisting my ankle, ripping off my big toenail and bruising my shin and knee. I want EVERYONE to know that I did make it to the top and I did save Jordan from being left all alone. I was limping off the escalator when James called and asked me where I was. At this point I could barely walk and it took everything in my not to pass out from the excruciating pain. James did come and we got a first aid kit and was able to bandage it up and go on with the day. I am now known as gimpy thanks to the girls in the home. As soon as we got everything bandaged up Jordan very sweetly said “mommy I’m so sorry your foot bleeded. Next time I’ll step on those moving stairs.” awww he cares about his mama how cute.
My stupid head injury

Ok so yesterday I was just minding my own business (which is rare) and was getting into my car after going to the post office. As I was getting into my car I rammed my head against the lethal sun visor and cut my head. I know it looks so small in the pic but it hurts soooooooooooooo bad. Ok so I’m probably being a little dramatic but it was bleeding like crazy. Ok so maybe not like crazy but it was bleeding. My mom always told me that head injuries bleed so much worse but cummon people it is so sore today. It was actually throbbing. When i would hurt my head as a kid my dad always said “well I sure hope it knocked some sense into ya.” Well let’s hope that happened. I now know to avoid all sun visors while getting into my car.
410 degrees

Ok so I just found out that the hair straightener Asher grabbed was 410 degrees. WOAH!!!! That is crazy! Now I feel even worse for leaving it in Asher’s reach. I now have learned my lesson the hard way to put the straightener up as soon as I’m finished using it.
Update on Asher’s hand…

I have been getting texts and phone calls asking about Asher’s doctor’s appt. Praise God he did not have to have it lanced. I was really dreading that because going into the doctor Asher was shaking his head and and screaming No, No! The burn is healing really well and so far we havn’t had any infection. I just have to keep a close eye on it and make sure there is no discoloration. Like I know what I’m looking for? Anyway today his blister popped by itself and looks really nasty but other than keeping it all bandaged up there’s nothing else to make it heal any faster. He’s doing really well though. Thanks for the texts, phone calls and prayers. They are greatly appreciated.
Painful procedure

Pray for little Asher tomorrow around 9:45 am. He has to get his burns lanced at his doctor’s appt. The procedure will prevent infection setting in. He has such a happy disposition about him. What a good little boy!
My baby got burned…

I know it sounds like I am such a bad mom but I was typing out something for my schooling and heard a blood curdling scream. Since I knew Jordan wasn’t here I knew something wasn’t right. Asher was right behind me in my bathroom which was weird because 1 minute earlier he was sitting right beside me and I thought I had seen him go in and watch wiggles. I had just finished straightening my hair and had just turned off the straightener and had sat down. We actually had a 1:30 doctor’s appt. so I grabbed him, got some ice and ran out the door. We arrived at the doctor about 10 minutes later but it felt like it had been an hour because he screamed the whole way there. He also had immediate blisters on his fingers and hand. Man did I feel bad that I wasn’t watching him closely. Anyway he ended up have 2nd degree burns and they wrapped it for us. Poor little guy, he’s been a trooper through the whole thing.
We’re racking up on hospital runs

Last night we added to our Desuyo family hospital drama. We have been to the hospital 4 times with Jordan now. The first time was when he jumped out of his car seat at 4 months old (4 month olds are not supposed to jump), the next 2 times were because he had fever induced seizures. Then lastnight is our new story.
The boys, Brianna and I had all gone over to Teresa’s house for dinner and we had a little accident. I was feeding Asher on my lap and hadn’t realized that Jordan had stood up and slipped off. Somehow he dislocated his leg and was in some serious pain. I have never heard him scream so loud for so long. He said “mommy don’t hold me on my legs hold me on my butt.” Poor little guy, he was in so much pain.
He wanted James to hold him in the back seat on the way to the hospital so I got to drive. Jinky kept Asher and off we went. On the way James started rotating his leg near the hip and apparently popped it back into place before we arrived at the children’s hospital. We went in and they said it would be a 3-4 hour wait and at that time it was already 10 pm so we let Jordan walk around and get up and down on his own in the play area and looked fine so we left. He’s doing fine today and back to riding his bike around the house and is active as ever. Praise God for that!
