Back to School Outreach

Back-to-School-Outreach-500

Our church (Journey Church) is having a back to school outreach on August 15th. If you would like to donate any school supplies or know anyone that needs school supplies that would ordinarily not have it please let me know via text, facebook or give me a call. I really believe this is an awesome idea and will minister to alot of families that can’t afford clothing for their kids. We are offering free hair cuts, nails, gift cards for clothing, food and fun with bounce houses etc. Come out and be a part of this great opportunity!!

On a new journey in life…

As of the last Friday James and I accepted a new job and a new journey in life. God has opened up many doors for us to make this decision. It was the most difficult decision we have had to make as a couple. We know this is what God wants for our family though. With much prayer, counsel from others and we have decided to move to orlando, FL.

We feel confident that God has this for us and are excited about what God holds for our future. We are also not going to leave the relationships we have behind without looking back. We will be home on a regular basis and want to keep in touch with all our our youth, their families and our friends. We also appreciate all this church has done to grow our ministry. It has been such an honor to be on staff with Vernel and family and Bro. Tim and his family. They have encouraged us and been such a blessing to work alongside.

This was our first full-time position and the past 4 1/2 years have been years that we will treasure forever. We had both of our boys here, James was ordained here, and we have learned valuable things here. We officially resigned yesterday and the people that lined up and hugged and encouraged us floored us. It was amazing  how everyone supported us even though we are leaving and starting somewhere new. FIBC family we will treasure your relationships forever. Keep our family in your prayers and we will do the same for you.

V.I.P Weekend

This weekend I was invited to attend a conference and concert in Hawkinsville, GA. So me, Bethany, Kelley Jo, and Sheila were out on an adventure of laughter, EATING, and a non stop flow on ice cream cones. Oh yeah I also cannot forget to mention our hotel that was 36.7 miles away from the church AND didn’t have electricity while I was trying to straighten my hair. We called the front desk and they told us not to use an iron, hair dryer or straightener because it was blow the fuse box. Wow!  Anyway it was such a fun praise and worship weekend that ended with Bethany’s car being dead because the thunder triggered her car alarm and caused her car to die. Wow how much more exciting does life need to get? Oh oh wait for more excitment…the speaker and singer gave us VIP seats!!!! Wow we were so famous! Also at the end they even took the time to take pictures with us AHHHHHHH!!!

We’re home from camp!

Transformed

We are having such a great camp this year. We are here with Oakleaf Baptist and the kids are having such a great time. Also 12 Left came and had a concert Tuesday night and the kids had a blast. Our theme is transformed based from the verse from Romans 12:2 and it’s so amazing seeing how the kids are reacting to the Bible study and small group time. It’s awesome to me that every year that God never ceases to amaze how he works through our speaker and how He moves amoung the kids.

Also we have a professional water balloon champion that is also our camp speaker. it’s so cool that when you ask someone to speak you never know what secret talent you are getting with these men of God haha. Anyway the decepticons (the adult team) won the water balloon volleyball tournament but unfortunately we were disqualified because our professional athlete from the past did not uncover his real identity BEFORE the game we lost. It was such a disapointment to have to give the prize to the second runners up. Camp is so full of such awesome drama.

Also last night we had a transformer making competition and check out the pics below and vote and let us know which one you think is the best! When casting your vote make sure to indicate which transformer you are voting for. Introducing…

Lake Yale Children’s Camp Day #1

Fainting, spider bites, missions, and exaustion

Our trips all began the beginning of June when we ventured 746 miles to Indiana for James to finish his degree. We then came back and went to Orlando to meet James’s family for a few days of relaxation and fun. Then we had our VBS and right after that had Childrens Camp. We had a breather for about 4 hours, did some laundry and made our way 675 miles to West Virginia for our mission trip.

I know that sounds like alot of traveling but it was well worth it in the end. I am so glad I was a part of every one of those events. The boys went on every trip with us were little troopers. I know everyone has asked me if I’d please blog about the trip so here we go…

We left the church for West Virginia on Friday about 5 pm and drove until 6 a.m. switching drivers every few hours. If you weren’t driving you were keeping the driver up. We arrived In WV and ate at the best little country resaurant called Tudors. YUMMY it had some good biscuits. Then we got to the church where we all stayed on airbeds and unloaded and unpacked. Everyone rested about 2 hours then we headed out to the M.I.H.O.W (maternal Infant Health Outreach Worker) and delivered all the baby stuff our church had donated which half filled a U-haul trailer. Also Winn-Dixie had donated alot of johnson and johnson stuff which was greatly appreciated. Also every year our VBS kids raise money during offering time to minister to other kids. They raised $600.00 by putting their coins and dollar bills in a bucket. Wow what a ministry to other kids that did. So not only did we donate all this stuff but we also told the ladies that started this ministry 1 year ago and we also were taking them on a shopping spree to wal-mart to get whatever else they needed. Wow what a sight it was to see 10 shopping carts full of carseats, swings, diapers and walkers. Also the lady that checked out our baby items was one of the moms receiving the baby stuff. God definitly put us in that line.

We then came back to the church, gathered our fliers and went down to the annual coal festival. (a fair like event) we passed out about 200 fliers and passed out candy. Right after that we came back to the church, showered in our 2 shower facility. (which took about 2 hours with everyone taking turns) and went to bed. Awwwwww too bad some people didn’t get to sleep because others were SNORING!!! Wow 48 hours with no sleep!! Well with a full day of church and getting ready for VBS a little sleep would have been helpful. Well guess what? When I do not get sleep I pass out!!! All I remember that night was standing there talking to Roby and Jodi about something last year. (probably her brush she yelled for at midnight last year) anyway I hit the ground hard. Roby apparently thought I was kidding and didn’t worry about it until I didn’t respond haha. Anyway Charlie and James came in I guess and was able to wake me up. The girls told me Jordan freaked out when he saw me laying there so afterwards Jordan said mommy I’m so glad you’re not sick anymore I love you thank you mommy for waking up.

Then we had our first day of VBS…we started at the park right there in Madison. We had about 9 kids the first day which was a good number. We didn’t expect many more to be at the evening VBS. We had our first VBS came back to the church for about an hour then headed out to our next one. We had the second one at a community center about 15 minutes away. It was so cool this year because we had a church come and provide all the food and help staff our classes. What a blessing they all were. Well the very first night we had 112 people. We were blown away. I had the preschool class and we had 18 in there. Woa that was a challenge. We had such a great time though.

On the next to the last day Roby got bitten by some type of poisenous spider. It caused his whole leg to swell and turn red and made him very sick. If he skips the last day of VBS you know there’s gotta be something wrong with him. He waited to go to the doctor until we got home and got some antibiotics. Keep him in your prayers as he heals. This week so so amazing! I wouldn’t have traded it for the world. We want to also say thanks to the Spruce Laurel people who helped us make this possible. We enjoyed your fellowship and Lord willing will see you next year! God bless you!
