So today was the first Sunday in a really long time that I actually had time after dressing the kids to take some pictures of them. It has also been such pretty weather lately that we busted out the hoodies. We all wore a hoodie to church this morning, even Gracie. She was so cute! Here are a few pictures of the kids from this morning.

My little nephew Isaiah Aleksander came into the world last Saturday at about 8:30 am. We were all in SC but I was able to make it to the hospital when we got back to visit him. We are very thankful that Lindsay wants us to be a part of Isaiah’s life and think he is a little blessing to our family. We love you little man. Check out the hair!!!! Jordan didn’t have that much hair until he was 2 haha.

Lola came from SC after the conference to see him

Yesterday was Gracie’s first Sunday at church so of course it has to be blogged about. She was a perfect child and slept in Daddy’s arms the whole service.

My Mom

Hi mom I just wanted to write to you and say thank you for what an inspiration you are to me. Maybe I’ve been thinking about our relationship lately because I now have a little girl and hope and pray that it will be like what we have. I appreciate you and all you do to encourage, lift up, pray, talk, answer questions and provide all that you can for our family when times are tough right now. God has blessed me so much with you and I am so thankful that you are a part of our lives even though we live furthur apart than I would like. I am so glad that you were able to share our special day with us also in the delivery room to bring our little girl into this world. What a joyous day that was. James and I are blessed to have you in our lives and the kids are so thrilled each time they get to call Lola and talk to her on the phone. I love you so much!!

Gracie’s first moments with her Lola (Gracie wasn’t too happy to be out and in the cold air haha)
Laminin – God is so amazing!

A doctor-friend wrote:
A couple of days ago I was running (I use that term very loosely) on my treadmill, watching a DVD sermon by Louie Giglio…and I was BLOWN AWAY! I want to share what I learned….but I fear not being able to convey it as well as I want. I will share anyway.
He (Louie) was talking about how inconceivably BIG our God is…how He spoke the universe into being…how He breathes stars out of His mouth that are huge raging balls of fire…etc. Etc. Then He went on to speak of how this star-breathing, universe creating God ALSO knitted our human bodies together with amazing detail and wonder. At this point I am LOVING it (fascinating from a medical standpoint, you know.) ….and I was remembering how I was constantly amazed during medical school as I learned more and more about God’s handiwork. I remember so many times thinking….’How can ANYONE deny that a Creator did all of this???’
Louie went on to talk about how we can trust that the God who created all this, also has the power to hold it all together when things seem to be falling apart…how our loving Creator is also our sustainer.
And then I lost my breath.
And it wasn’t because I was running my treadmill, either!!!
It was because he started talking about laminin.
I knew about laminin.. Here is how Wikipedia describes them :’Laminins are a family of proteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding of basement membranes in almost every animal tissue.’ You see….laminins are what hold us together….LITERALLY. They are cell adhesion molecules. They are what holds one cell of our bodies to the next cell.. Without them, we would literally fall apart. And I knew all this already. But what I didn’t know is what laminin LOOKED LIKE.
But now I do.
And I have thought about it a thousand times since (already)…..
Here is what the structure of laminin looks like….AND THIS IS NOT a ‘Christian portrayal’ of it….if you look up laminin in any scientific/medical piece of literature, this is what you will see….
(SEE BELOW FOR PICTURE OF LAMININ)
Now tell me that our God is not the coolest!!!
Amazing.
The glue that holds us together…ALL of us….is in the shape of the cross.
Immediately Colossians 1:15-17 comes to mind.
‘He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth , visible and invisible,
Whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;
All things were created by him and for him.
He is before all things,
And in him all things HOLD TOGETHER. ‘
Colossians 1:15-17.
Call me crazy. I just think that is very, very, very cool.
Thousands of years before the world knew anything about laminin, Paul penned those words. And now we see that from a very LITERAL standpoint, we are held together…one cell to another….by the cross.
You would never in a quadrillion years convince me that is anything other than the mark of a Creator who knew EXACTLY what laminin ‘glue’ would look like long before Adam even breathed his first breath!!
” Faith is not knowing what the future holds,
but knowing who holds the future.”
I wanted you to know and to understand that YOU are being held together by the cross of Jesus Christ! His love! His forgiveness and
His marvelous power!
AMAZING- THIS IS THE GLUE THAT LITERALLY HOLDS OUR BODIES TOGETHER
Happy Valentine’s Day

I love , love, love to freeze it and make it where its icy then drink it. Yummmmmmmmmmmmy!!! Anyway that’s all for now
A time to be Thankful

With Thanksgiving coming up tomorrow I thought I’d write some things that I’m thankful for. It’s so easy to get distracted with all the hustle trying to prepare for Thanksgiving with buying stuff to get ready and preparing all the food. I thought maybe I should sit back tonight and really thank God for all the things He has done for me this last year. Also I have caught myself lately because I have been complaining about my job when I’m so thankful I have one at all. I miss my dad and James misses his mom but we’re so thankful we had some great years before they both went on to be with God. I feel like all I ever do during the day is pick up toys all around the house and trip over stuff the boys leave around. But then again we are so, so blessed and thankful we have 2 adorable boys that love to spend time with us. When we both get annoyed with each other we are thankful that we have a spouse that loves us in the most annoying times. When we miss our famililies and friends that are far away from us we thank God that we have family to miss. When it’s a drudge sometimes to cook food we are so thankful that we live in a country that food is readily available. When bill time comes around every month I am thankful that God has given us resources that we can pay our bills. God has blessed us so much this year and allowed us to have another great year with soooooooooooooo many things to be thankful for. Most of all and most important than anything else I mentioned above I am so thankful for Salvation and Jesus Christ that died so that all of us can live abundant, free lives in Christ and to spend eternity with Him. We love you faithful readers and are thankful for you too. We appreciate all the prayers that have been lifted for our family lately and we love all of you. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
